Jerome D. Smalley

President and Chief Executive Officer


Jerome Smalley brings more than 30 years of experience in commercial and community development and real estate management to his role in the company. Prior to joining Haven Custom Homes in 2007, Smalley worked at The Rouse Company for 23 years where he held executive and leadership roles, including vice chairman and chief operating officer, and executive vice president of development. Smalley played an integral role in the company's growth in the areas of retail, office, and community development. Smalley is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., and holds a masters degree in business administration from Loyola College in Baltimore, Md. Upon graduation from West Point, Smalley served as a commissioned officer with the United States Army Corps of Engineers achieving the rank of Captain. Smalley serves on the Board of Enterprise Homes, an affordable housing developer, and on the Board of Enterprise Social Investment Corporation, a national leader in the syndication of low income housing and new market tax credits. Additionally, Smalley is Chairperson of the non-profit corporation that serves as the developer of the University of Maryland at Baltimore's Biotechnology Research Park. Mr. Smalley is a past member and officer of the Board of Trustees of the Walters Art Museum.
